Wallaby – I have no regrets about leaving Reds

Izack Rodda, the Wallabies lock is having no regrets about his decision to part ways with Queensland Reds the previous year, to play in France. He says that he is yet to speak with his former coach, Brad Thorn, since returning to Australia.

Rodda was a part of the Wallabies team for the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship campaigns, which are set to start on August 7. The 24-year-old player left the Reds just one year after the Super Rugby announced that players will have a significant wage cut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thorn was riled by his decision to end his contract with Reds and join Lyon. He expressed his displeasure once more this year when the player looked to return to Australian rugby.

Eventually, Rodda signed with Western Force, saying that his time in France helped him grow as a person – and as a player. Rodda added that he chose what he thought will be best for the future of his family.

He said that he has no regrets about his decision and he has learned a lot. ‘I think that I matured a lot as a person – mentally and physically.’ - he added.

Rodda also added that he didn’t speak with Thorn since he got back. Now, he is in intense training to regain his fitness.
